Emirates Airline has been voted as having the best brand image in the UAE, according to a survey of residents.
Polling firm YouGov asked 1,000 people which company they believe has the best brand, in the survey commissioned by communications agency IHC.
Emirates was ranked on top with 43 percent votes, while Etihad Airways coming second with 14 percent.
Telecoms provider Etisalat scored 10 percent and online marketplaces Souq.com and Dubizzle tied on fourth place with eight percent votes each.
Ian Hainey, Managing Director, IHC Investing believes that allocating 1 billion AED in their communication budget in 2010 is working well for Emirates.
He said: “It feels like the brand is bombarding us with its logo and destinations every time we watch a football match. The roster of payments for sponsorship deals across all sports must be impressive, to say the least.
“The rise of Emirates has happened in conjunction with its aggressive marketing campaigns and their investment into sports sponsorship.”
Etihad’s investment into sports sponsorship is also paying off, said Hainey.
“Etihad’s far reaching global marketing spend, including Manchester City, Formula 1, plus a US major league football, ice hockey and basketball team has ensured it comes in second place.”
Other brands in the research include Emirates NBD topping the list of UAE banks with seven percent votes, consumer electronics retailer Sharaf DG coming in seventh with four percent of votes.
