Hyundai has confirmed that its eight-seater Palisade SUV, previewed at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November, and the Sonata mid-size saloon, which was revealed in Seoul this March, will go on sale in the Middle East and Africa markets during this summer.

While the 2020 Sonata is the eighth generation version of the South Korean carmaker’s mid-size family saloon, the Palisade is an all-new model that will take its position at the helm of Hyundai’s line-up as its flagship SUV. It will be considerably longer, wider and taller than the Santa Fe which went on sale last year and is currently Hyundai’s largest offering in this market.

With striking lines and seating for up to eight passengers, the Palisade is aimed at mid-size rivals such as the Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer, while the Sonata will take on the latest versions of its traditional rivals such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima among others.

“The Sonata has a long and successful history in our region, and consistently ranks among the most popular models in its segment, so we have high expectations for this latest model. It offers premium design with sporty, coupe-like styling, combined with exceptional quality and outstanding value in the market,” said Mike Song, Hyundai’s Head of Operations for the Middle East and Africa.

Speaking of the Palisade, Song said it offers the same high standards, while extending our range into new market segments, offering a larger family SUV as a flagship product. He also said that the new model will reach out to new customers for the brand, and also serve the changing needs of loyal Hyundai owners.

Although Hyundai has confirmed that deliveries to Middle East and Africa will begin during the summer, no specific date has been announced. Watch this space for updates.
