Legendary action star Jackie Chan is to shoot a car chase for his latest movie, ‘Kung Fu Yoga’, in Downtown Dubai.

The Hong Kong star, who has appeared in hits such as ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Shanghai Knights’ and ‘The Karate Kid’, is expected to arrive in the emirate with his crew early next month.

Directed by Chan’s long-time friend Stanley Tong, the film also stars Bollywood actors Katrina Kaif, Tiger Shroff and Riya Sen, as well as Hong Kong actor Aarif Lee.

Kaif plays role of an Indian professor at a Chinese university, while 61-year-old martial arts icon Chan will portray an archaeologist who seeks her help to find treasure from a different era by traveling back in time.

“They will be filming on the boulevard Downtown,” the source said. “It will be a car chase along the boulevard but I cannot reveal exactly where.”

Asked if any scenes are planned at the Burj Khalifa, or whether the chase will feature the Dubai landmark in the background, the source said: “The Burj may or may not be in the background.”

‘Kung Fu Yoga’ is the first of a three-movie agreement signed by the Indian and Chinese governments during a visit by the Chinese president Xi Jinping to India last year. The film was originally expected to be shot entirely in India and some scenes will still be filmed there.

‘Kung Fu Yoga’ is the latest in a number of big name movies to be shot in the UAE.
