A new Japanese restaurant ONI Lounge & Restaurant is now open in Shangri-La Hotel Dubai. The restaurant, on the second floor of the hotel, has undergone a massive revamp – and now boasts a brand-new look and menu.

Dishes on the fresh new menu include live stations including robata, sushi, gyoza and ramen.

Highlights include wagyu beef tataki, avocado on crispy rice, tuna pizza and more. There’s also a selection of maki, nigiri, tempura – as well as main courses including steaks and miso cod. Desserts include milk cake, matcha fondant and mocha ice cream.

The restaurant seats 75 diners and promises Japanese street flavours and dishes served in traditional ‘Izakaya’ sharing style plates.

Décor is traditional with a modern take and there’s a special bar for Japanese beverages, as well as DJ booth and private lounge. Ingredients are being sourced from Hokkaido, too.

“We are extremely excited to launch ONI here in Dubai and open our doors to the public,” said head chef, Emil Helmy. ONI is more than just a restaurant but a social dining experience focusing on theatrics and providing guests with a full 360-multisensory experience from the moment they walk in the door.”
